The main islands of Rurutu, Tubuai and Raivavae are roughly 300nm to the south of tahiti and take about 1 hour and 40 minutes to fly to. The islands offer a slightly temperate climate and with Rurutu being known as the whale island. From July to October humpback whales come to breed in the area and offer spectacular shows. Striped and blue marlin are known to be found in these waters with research indicating the presence of large blue marlin.
Embark on a 10 day round trip from Tahiti to fish either of the islands in the summer months, or fly down to meet the boat and cruise the three islands and see it all. There are 4 flights a week.
